Just wanted to let you know about my latest "adventure"..I was at the Georgia Dome/Georgia Tech on March 13-16 to cover the SEC Tournament for my radio station..I had a BLAST!!! Thought of you all a lot, realizing I NEVER could have fulfilled this dream without the EXCELLENT training I received while a student at The Atlanta Broadcast Institute..I gained SO much valuable experience while covering the tournament..guess you could say I was in "la la land"!! hee hee! Of course, you all know about the tornado that struck the dome on Friday night-right in the middle of a game! Luckily, I wasn't in there at the time..I continued to cover the tournament after it moved from the Dome to Alexander Memorial Coliseum for the semi-finals and Championship game.

I just wanted to say “hi” and let you know what I’m up to. In January I got the opportunity to be a part of the Radio Disney AM 590 Street Promotional Team. And I’m also an intern for Christine Nelson, Director of Operations at Radio Disney Am 590. I’m having a blast with all of the people that I have met. Thanks so much for everything you have done for me!

Growing up in Marietta, Georgia all I ever dreamed about was being heard on the radio or seen on television. The only problem with that dream was that I was growing up in Marietta and not in LA, New York, or Nashville. Well, I did what any normal high school student would do: I graduated and started college at a local school. I knew that this was not what I wanted to do, but I had no clue how to get my foot in the door with the broadcasting industry. Well, all these years later I stumbled across the Atlanta Broadcast Institute. I made an appointment, toured the school and listened in on a class. I was hooked. Now, I am a few weeks away from graduation and from completing my internship with Kicks 101.5 FM, the New Kick’s Morning Show, I never expected to be interning with the top Country radio station in Atlanta, but had you told me I would be interning for the Morning Show, I would have said that could never happen... Now after graduation, I have been given a part-time job by Kicks doing remotes and promotions for the station. As well, i am going to Nashville, TN in February 2006 for an internship with Country Radio Broadcaster’s Association. I believe all of these events occurred for two reasons - Hard Work, and the Atlanta Broadcast Institute.

I got hired by the #1 station in Chattanooga, "Sunny 92.3"!! I"m SO excited!!! there's also 3 other radio stations there that I will be trained on..I'll be doing some board op work and "fill-in" on-air talent!! They have an AM station that they are revamping that I"ll be a big part of ...will keep you posted! Thank's again SO much for everything you've done for me - all your encouragement and advising me to "be persistant"... and I have you all at ABI to thank for that!! I"ve already had 3 "promos" ("Braves Caravan" & "On-Tap"-announcing what important games are coming up on our station this weekend like college basketball, NFL playoffs etc..) aired on AM 1370 ESPN Radio this week..I"ve been doing some board op work for "Ruby" AM 1310..we have a contract with the Vanderbilt Commodores to broadcast their games via ISP network. I was also just told last night by my boss that the Director Of Programming heard my promos and liked them and he said I will be filling in for one of our FM stations, for overnight shifts soon! Thank's again, I owe SO much to ABI for all this!!!

Since I had tried every way imaginable to enter into the broadcasting industry with no luck on my part, I was about to give up. After attending ABI, doors began to open in a way I never dreamed of. Not only did I meet a lot of great people and learn a lot of interesting and exciting new things, but I am now well on my way to having my dream job. Thanks ABI for challenging me and giving me opportunities I'd only dreamed of.

The placement services at ABI were integral in my successful pursuit of a broadcasting career. Cyndi goes out of her way to secure internship and job opportunities for students. Just five weeks into my internship at AM 1160, I was offered a full-time position as Production Director. For the first time ever, I can honestly say that I love what I do for a living. And there's no way I could have done it without the training I received at ABI. Thanks!

Not only did I learn a lot at ABI, they placed me in the #1 R&B station in Atlanta to intern. I have gained lots of valuable contacts in the industry and have expanded my career beyond radio. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone.

Atlanta Broadcast Institute is the place to be to get into radio or television. What can't I say about ABI. The teachers were extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of radio and television and taught all the students in a personable, one-on-one way that made each student want to do as well as they could. Whether you want to go into sales, on-air, production, anchoring, commercial work, etc., ABI is the place to go to learn about it all. They leave nothing out of their curriculum and make each student a well rounded piece of the radio/TV puzzle.

Holy sh*t! I work at Z93! I’d like to thank all the little people whose total determination and dedication made this possible. But seriously - ...YOU GUYS ROCK!!Going to ABI was probably the first right move I’ve made in a long line of erratic mistakes! Just look at me now! I’m on air at Z93, Saturday nights midnight to 6 am AND I produce Eye on Atlanta. So if you’re ever drunk and listening, feel free to keep me company. And remember, whatever you want to know about sewage, syphilis or anything else that plagues our fair city- I’m your girl. I’m sure a fledgling broadcast student is standing here, poring over every letter on your “Wall of Fame’ wondering if they’ve made the right decision. Well go on then! You’re here for reason and if that reason is radio, then, you’re in the right place!! Work hard, stand strong and never, ever moon a werewolf!

Prior to graduating from the Atlanta Broadcast Institute in October 2004, Cyndi Todd, ABI Director of Placement Services, gave me the name and number of a contact at WAEC, Love 86 AM. She knew how important it was for me to be placed with a Christian radio station, and although it was a tall order, Cyndi came through. I met with Archie Polk at WAEC and he agreed to bring me on at the station as a board operator. I began training at WAEC last November and by January I was added to the payroll.I am now News / Sales Director for WAEC Love 860 AM. In addition to running the boards, I also host my own radio show, "According to Hoyle: Earthly News with a Heavenly Perspective." My job at the station has allowed me to do everything from programming and voice talent to live remotes and memorable interviews. In less than a year's time, I've gone from dreaming about a job in radio to actually working for a radio station. I am truly thankful to the teacher's and staff at ABI!
