General Information

Attendance
Just as at broadcast stations, students at ABI are expected to be prompt and regular in attendance of all classes. Two tardies count as one absence. Only three unexcused absences or four tardies in the progress of the course are allowed. Students who have excused absences will be responsible for making up all missed work. Students exceeding the limit of absences will be referred to staff who may dismiss the student at their sole discretion.

Conduct
Professional conduct is expected at all times. Mutual courtesy and respect between instructors and students, and among students is required. Any student who does not maintain a cooperative attitude will be referred to the Director for counseling. Repeated non-cooperation (Two or more incidents) may result in the student being dismissed from the course at the sole discretion of the Director.

Grading
It is the policy of ABI to grade students according to the observations and critiques of the instructors, the student’s participation and actions in class, their progress in practical examinations and in written tests and quizzes. Students will be awarded a grade at each class session, with either an observational, percentage or letter grade from the exercise. Grades are assigned according to the following:

ABI Grading

Grades will be converted to points, and those points averaged to give a final letter grade.

ABI believes that students are in class to learn and to perform. Students from ABI are considered better than average in job situations because of the direct training they get; and as such we give grades for Average work or better only. Poor work is equivalent to failing work in the ABI philosophy, because a poor worker will quickly be replaced in the job market. Students who maintain lower than a 2.4 average may be dismissed from the course.
